DFUMC is involved in a number of ministries and missions
that directly support our local community. These are briefly described below.

Free
London Broil Dinners
- This is a free community meal scheduled the 3rd Saturday of each month. A voluntary love donation is taken with all
proceeds supporting church ministries.

Nursing
Home Ministry -
Several times during the month, we
visit in the afternoons with the nursing home residents of Belle Reve and
Milford Senior Care for our time of "Hymns and Scriptures."

Baby
Blessings Pantry -
The Baby Blessings Pantry of baby clothing and supplies is maintained by
donation only to meet emergency and urgent needs. See

- Baby Blessing Pantry is open on Thursdays 4-6 PM, and before and during
London Broil dinners.

Food
Pantry -
On an ongoing basis, our members
donate non-perishable items that are then taken to the Holy Trinity
Lutheran Church to be distributed to families in need.

Pastor's
Outreach Fund -
Our Pastor uses the Outreach Fund
to help members and folks in the community with all financial of emergencies
such as medical issues and utilities being shut off. The Outreach Fund is only made
possible by donations. so please donate
throughout the year as you are able.

Senior Citizen's Harvest Dinner -
In early November each year, we have a free Senior Citizen's
Harvest Dinner where we serve a turkey and ham dinner to approximately 75-100
area senior citizens.

Holiday
Food Baskets - Through the generous donations
of our members, we prepare Holiday Food baskets at Thanksgiving, Christmas
and Easter for local families in need. Presents for children are also distributed
at Christmas through the Angel Tree donations.

Adopt
a Highway
- From April through November,
teams of youth and adults meet 3-4 times to clean up a 2 mile
stretch of Silver Lake Road between Route 739 and Childs Park.

College
Students Care Packages - Members donate snacks and
these are mailed in the fall to DFUMC's College Students who appreciate
the care packages.

CROP
Walk
- In
the fall, teams of people from our church participate in the area Tri-States CROP Walk in
the fall to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world.

Red Bird
Mission -
Each year, members of our church participate in a home repair work camp through
the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky, an isolated area in the Appalachian Mountains
where three of the poorest counties in America come together.

Shared
Ministries -
Together we can do great things in the name of Jesus, by supporting the world
wide ministries of the United Methodist Church in its local, regional and
global mission work.

Bread for the World
-
This organization is a collective Christian voice urging our nation's leaders
to end hunger at home and abroad. DFUMC gets involved in letter writing
campaigns and other activities.
